Visiting the site daily has given us a new perspective of the neighborhood that we have become familiar with for 6 years. The neighbors are different, the views are different, and the sun is different. Where I used to rise with heavy sunlight, closing in the roof has offered us the first real glance of the light that will be experienced daily. Throughout the day, the warm light filters through the trees to the south, while the cool north light comes in through the skylights. The house settles with the sunset.
The newly hewed and air dried hackberry wood of Kansas City has been installed on the West and East facades. With Plumbing, Electrical and framing completed, 1811 Madison (MadHouse) is set to be insulated and roofed this week. Drywall will start next week.
